 Frequently Asked Questions

Whenever you start a new journey, there are always questions to answer. Where am I going? What will it be like when I get there? Who will be going along with me, and how much can I rely upon them? Below are some frequently asked questions to help you during this new time. If you have a question which isn’t addressed here, please email us.

General

Frequency

When people seek out therapy it is usually because they’ve encountered a problem which feels bigger than their ability to solve it, and they’re struggling with what to do. Many clients initially feel that weekly sessions are appropriate and helpful. As our therapeutic relationship grows and we are able to work more efficiently, some clients transition to every other week, and some transition to “maintenance” checkups every month or so. We are not looking to keep you in therapy forever; we want to equip you with skills and the confidence to use them, and the rest is up to you.

Length

All individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length, with some additional time at the end to address any billing, insurance, or logistical concerns.

What is therapy like?

The best way to think of therapy is as a guided conversation, one in which a trained professional can help you better see, understand, and work to change the circumstances of your life. It is a radically safe and accepting space, free from judgment or the therapist’s own agenda. It is your time to discuss whatever is on your mind. A good therapist will help you make connections, gain insight, and identify ways to make real and lasting change.

Insurance and Billing

Insurance

Currently the Chicago Therapy Working Group, LLC takes the following insurance providers:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Illinois PPO

  • Aetna PPO

  • Cigna PPO

  • United Healthcare PPO

To find whether or not we are in your network, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the representative if the Chicago Therapy Working Group, PLLC is in network for you.

Billing

For clients whose insurance we accept, we bill insurance directly. For all others, payment is due at time of service rendered.

Confidentiality

Given the nature of the work and the need for safety and privacy both inside and outside the space, we value confidentiality very highly. We cannot speak with any other individuals, even other therapists, without your explicit written permission. Confidentiality is our legal obligation, and our ethical duty as therapists. As professionals we are careful to hold your confidentiality closely, and to not betray that trust.
