About Me
My name is David Kullgren and I am a psychotherapist with the Chicago Therapy Working Group, with a primary location in the Avondale / Logan Square neighborhood, and offering teletherapy services throughout Illinois.
I work with individuals, couples, and families. My clients are from diverse backgrounds with diverse challenges, and I am here to help them use their innate power along with insight and tools gained through therapy, to live lives of strength and dignity.
Parent
I am a son, but also a father. The transition to parenthood is a challenging time on all fronts, including new demands and skills, logistics and problem-solving, as well as coping with physical and mental stress.
If you find the role of parent challenging, congratulations, that means you’re doing it right. It’s a tremendous responsibility, and one for which you’ll need to be in top shape; support networks, healthy communication, self-care, all these are tools which parents rely on but which can all too easily be forgotten or deprioritized. If your kid is worth all that worry and work and stress, you are too.
Career-Switcher
I am a proud career-switcher. I worked for years in a series of jobs for which I was well qualified, but which held little interest or challenge. At age 38 I went back to graduate school, obtained a new degree, and started on a new path in a field which I find deeply rewarding and nourishing.
If you struggle in your job or in your career, you are not alone. I can help understand your personal values around work, and help you better align them. I have helped many clients find satisfaction in aspects of existing careers, and have helped many more transition to healthier, better, more satisfying new careers.
